Energy is one of the new Sustainable Development Goals by the UN

On September 25th, the world leaders adopted new global goals at the UN General Assembly in New York, which will replace the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. The new “Sustainable Development Goals” (2016-2030) cover 17 key areas of development -Goal 7: “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”, energy is finally being recognized as a key enabler for development. Universal access to energy, a higher share of renewable energy and massive improvements in energy efficiency are now part of the global priorities for sustainable development in the years to come.
