Area of Research:

  • Carbon capture and storage
  • Radiative heat transfer
  • CFD of combustion
  • Modelling coal and biomass processes
  • Large eddy simulations
  • Chemical kinetic modelling
  • Optimisation of kinetic schemes
  • Mercury pollutant formation

Areas of Research

Alastair Clements’s areas of research are focussed on the computational modelling of combustion systems and energy processes.  Alastair’s current focus is on advanced sub-models for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of energy combustion systems, mainly focussing on coal and biomass combustion for CCS, and integrating detailed simulations into process modelling of full power plant systems.  Other areas of interest include detailed chemical kinetic modelling, optimisation processes and mercury pollutant formation.
