Renewable electricity from on- and off-shore wind reached its highest share of power generation last week, generating over 18% of the UK’s electricity.
Dr Grant Wilson, an expert of energy systems analysis, said:
“Our preliminary analysis of data from National Grid and Exelon shows that wind had its best ever week, in terms of the share of total electricity generated.
With potentially further windy weather over the winter, wind could continue to have high generation rates”.
